Math Counts!

I am so happy to be a math educator at this time in education..... especially after growing up in a world of memorization processes and procedures that had no meaning for me.  

When the conceptual door to both math and science opened up to me I was so excited to learn.  Memorization and procedures took on a new place behind building knowledge and understanding.  I've been lucky to have worked as  a classroom teacher in elementary, middle, special and highly capable education.  I am an author, instructional coach, curriculum specialist, university professor and professional development consultant and have had the pleasure of learning from the best.  Working in a variety of settings has shaped my understanding of teachers and teacher education and I am excited to move on to even more learning and sharing experiences in the years to come.
